Milan Dragway, Milan, MI, is a pretty place located about 1-hour West of Detroit's Metro Airport just North off I-94.
Detroit Dragway - among other things - was the home of the 1958 & 59 NHRA U.S. Nationals and was epi-center of the entire transition from full-size "bubble-top" sedans, to factory lightweights, to Super Stock, to A/FX, to Funny Cars. As well, the whole musclecar phenomenon was launched and carried forward at "Dix & Sibley" the radio ad location announced nationwide.
I will be there to recall those days. As track announcer at DD for 11 years, from 1962-72 , watched all this happen before my eyes. Color commentray, impromptu "Drag Racing History - 101" seminars using cars from the pits as live examples, public-invited benchracing sessions with period stars and factory personnel and appraisal inpsections as well.
RSVP for 2nd Annual DETROIT DRAGWAY REUNION, Saturday, May 21, Milan Dragway to add comments!
